One of the fun activities while traveling is participating in the holidays of other cultures. Even if you’re not traveling, in the U.S., a melting pot of cultures, you can catch a glimpse of holiday observances from around the world.
Today, January 23, is Chinese New Year. In most major cities around the world where there is a Chinese population (such as New York, San Francisco, Washington, DC and others), there will most likely be celebrations. Even if there isn’t one in your area, you can celebrate by eating Chinese food and reading about your sign on the Chinese Zodiac. If you’d like to learn more, there are numerous websites on the internet providing information about the celebration of Chinese New Year, it’s history, the zodiac signs, and suggestions on how you can have your own celebration.
This is year is the year of the dragon. According to Wikipedia, the dragon is legendary and the year of the dragon is considered the luckiest year in the Chinese Zodiac. With that, I wish for you a year of immense good fortune.
