At the end of previous overseas trips, I remember thinking that I couldn’t wait to get home and see my family or sleep in my own bed or eat familiar food.
This trip is different. I thoroughly enjoyed being on the road and, while I missed seeing my family and talking to friends on a regular basis, I really didn’t want to return home.
There is, however, one thing that I cannot wait to do – laundry. While I regularly hand washed my clothes in hotel room sinks and tubs, and successfully removed food stains and body odor, they still smelled like Turkey or Greece. Perhaps it was the water or that hand washing isn’t so thorough. Especially during the last week of my trip; I really looked forward to doing laundry and having clothes that smelled really clean and FRESH.
Thank God for small pleasures.
